Macon deputies fired after alleged sex and bribery violations

In recent weeks county jailor Andrew Dixon and a deputy/investigator Jason Whitt were arrested on sexual misconduct and bribery charges, respectively.

Dixon, a correctional officer in the Macon County jail, was arrested in early June after the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) was called by Macon County Sheriff Andre’ Brunson upon receiving information that Dixon possibly having unlawful sexual contact with an inmate.”


Former Macon Co. Sheriff’s Deputy Charged With Theft

“LAFAYETTE, Tenn. – A former Macon County Sheriff’s deputy was arrested and charged with theft.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation began investigating Troy Griggs in January.

resulted in the indictment and arrest of a former Macon County deputy who is charged with stealing tobacco.

Griggs transported four bales of tobacco to a warehouse in Hartsville, to be sold as his own. The next day, the rightful owner of the tobacco reported to the warehouse that the product was his.

The tobacco was valued at about $5,300, had been stolen by Griggs on January 16. Griggs is no longer employed by the Macon County Sheriff’s Office.”
