Income Eligibility Guidelines

This fund has been established to assist the indigent defend themselves from overzealous criminal prosecution vastly disproportionate to their actual offense. As such, there are strict income eligibility guidelines, and you must demonstrate genuine need.

The income limit that will apply for many  will be 138% of the Federal Poverty Line (FPL)  (133% + 5% income disregard). Based on the 2013 FPL levels, that limit will be:

SINGLE:  $1321/month

MARRIED/HOUSEHOLD OF TWO:  $1783/month.

THREE: $2246/mo.

Federal Poverty Level.  This is a commonly-used income benchmark used to calculate income eligibility limits for various Federal and State public benefit programs.  The FPL is calculated and published by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services each year.  Updated State program income limits can be found on the Department of Health website.
