– Villa Rica Police are investigating a former College Park Police officer as one of numerous men who met up with local teenage girls for sex.

“It’s embarrassing for the profession,” said Captain Keith Shaddix. “There is some responsibility on us as adults to make sure we’re not dealing with a juvenile. These girls, as young as they look- I’m not sure that he would not have known they were underage,” he said.

Police said two fifteen-year-old girls, who were friends, signed onto adult dating websites and represented themselves as 18 and 20 years old. Police are investigating a total of nine men who have contacted them or possibly had sex with them.

Police said former College Park Officer David Stephen Block Jr., who is the son of a major on the force, met up with a teenage girl in her neighborhood and brought her to a Carroll County hotel for sex.

Officers said they were contacted by the mother of one of the teenagers, concerned about their daughter. The teenagers admitted their contact with a number of adult men, police said.

Officers said they opened their investigation on April 2 and contacted Block for an interview. The College Park Police Chief Keith Meadows tells FOX 5, Block resigned on April 4.

Block turned himself in on charges of statutory rape, enticing a child for indecent purposes, and aggravated sodomy. He posted a $65,000 bond.

Block’s attorney, Jason Swindle, sent us the following statement:

“Officer David Stephen Block Jr. was contacted in early April 2017 by the Villa Rica Police Department (VRPD) regarding allegations that he met two teenage females on an adult-only dating site who falsely represented their ages to the web master and Officer Block.  After further investigation, arrest warrants were secured for Officer Block describing alleged sexual conduct with the females.

On April 14th, 2017, Officer Block turned himself in to the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office.  He is currently out on bond while the VRPD and my law firm continue our investigations.  I have been in close contact with the VRPD and the Carroll County District Attorney’s Office since these allegations surfaced.

Our investigation suggests that other men will be facing similar allegations under similar circumstances.

As a decorated law enforcement officer who comes from a family of people who have served our community by wearing “the blue”, Officer Block strongly believes in the criminal justice system; particularly that every person is innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.”
