School Resource Officer Arrested for Sexual Battery of Student

Former Florence County Sheriff’s deputy and School Resource Officer Jamil K. Hall has been charged with sexual battery of a student, according to major Michael Nunn with the Florence County Sheriff’s Office.

Nunn said allegations of Hall, 39, having a inappropriate relationship with a student came to light this week.

Hall’s employment with the Florence County Sheriff’s Office was terminated following an investigation into the allegations.

According to investigators, the conduct is alleged to have occurred on school grounds, though the name of the school has not been released.

Nunn said sexual battery with a student is a felony punishable by up to 5 years in prison. Hall has also been charged with misconduct in office, which is a misdemeanor, according to a news release.

“Law enforcement officers are held to a higher standard,” Sheriff Kenney Boone stated. “We cannot tolerate the misuse of our office and will prosecute violators to the fullest extent of the law.”

Hall was released from the Florence County Detention Center on a $1,000 surety bond for misconduct in office charge and $4,000 surety bond for sexual battery with a student.
