A former Louisville Metro Police lieutenant was arrested Thursday after he was accused of sexually abusing a child.

Sean Jackman, 46, of Louisville, allegedly abused a girl from approximately 2001 to 2005 starting when she was 10 years old, according to an arrest citation.

He was arrested around 1 p.m. Thursday at his home and charged with one count each of first-degree sodomy, second-degree sodomy, first-degree sexual abuse and second-degree sexual abuse, court records show.

Jackman started with the Louisville Police Department as a recruit in February 1992 and retired from LMPD in December 2015, said police spokesman Alicia Smiley in an email.

A review of Jackman’s personnel file provided by the department showed dozens of commendation letters and no disciplinary actions.

According to Courier-Journal archives, Jackman was promoted to lieutenant by former Louisville Metro Mayor Jerry Abramson in June 2008.

Jackman was arraigned in Jefferson District Court on Friday, court records show. He is being held in Metro Corrections on a $10,000 cash bond.
