Chester Police Officer Charged With Demanding Sex Acts From Detained Women

A Philadelphia-area police officer is accused of demanding sexual favors from three women detained inside the police department.

Prosecutors say 37-year-old Roosevelt Turner is charged with official oppression, indecent exposure and indecent assault. The charges are based on separate encounters in 2015.

Roosevelt Turner, a 7-year veteran of the Chester Police Department, in Delaware County, is charged with using his power to coerce women in his custody into performing sexual acts. NBC10’s Randy Gyllenhaal reports with more on how this information just surfaced.

District Attorney Jack Whelan describes Turner as a seven-year veteran of the Chester Police Department.

Turner has posted $25,000 bail after his arrest Thursday. He has a preliminary hearing set for March 23.

His lawyer did not immediately return a message.
