2 Fort Pierce police officers in Demarcus Semer shooting fired

The terminations of Officer Ralph Holmes and Sergeant Brian MacNaught was due to a violation of department policies, according to Fort Pierce Police Chief Diane Hobley-Burney.

The chief said the decision was made following a seven-month long investigation.

Officer Holmes violated 12 departmental policies and Sergeant MacNaught violated three, Chief Hobley-Burney said at a Friday afternoon news conference.

“I started singing,’What a mighty God we have. What a mighty God we have. Angels bow before Him. Heaven and Earth adore, what a mighty God we have,” Semer’s mother Latrecia Middleton said in reaction to the news.”
