EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14) — An El Paso police detective arrested Monday is accused of sexually assaulting a teen girl.
According to police, the victim said the assault happened over the weekend, and the department’s Crimes Against Children detectives began their investigation.
As a result, Juan Gardea, 46 was arrested and booked into the county jail.
Court documents said Gardea, who was off duty at the time, was watching TV with the teen when the alleged assault happened.
Gardea is accused of touching the teen underneath her clothes.
Gardea is a 19-year veteran with the police department, and he was placed on administrative leave.
He faces one count of sexual assault of a child, and his bond was set at $100,000.
