Austin Police Chief Art Acevedo is speaking out about a YouTube video that shows two APD officers blocking an activist from recording a traffic stop.
The video was shot by activist Phillip Turner.
At one point, both officers point their flashlights at Turner’s camera. Chief Acevedo says it goes against department policy.
“We will not tolerate our officers being dismissive of policy. If you’re a police officer and you’re diligent and you wrap yourself with policy, it really is a shield,” Chief Acevedo said Monday afternoon at a press conference.
One of the officers has been removed from patrol duties. Both are under internal investigations.
