A grand jury has indicted a Prairie View city police officer following the arrest of a city councilman last year.
The grand jury in Waller County on Friday indicted Officer Michael Kelly for official oppression for the arrest of Jonathan Miller, according to Houston media outlets.
Miller was tased and arrested by officers in front of his home after they responded to a report of a disturbance in the area.
Miller said he was with the group that night and practicing dance routines in front of his home when the officers approached and began to aggressively question them about what they were doing, according to KPRC-TV.
Officer Kelly said Miller was interfering with their work and ordered Miller on the ground with his hands up.
After Miller was on his knees, Officer Kelly fired a taser gun into Miller’s back.
The incident was captured on a cell phone video camera and shared on social media.
